Primary Charge Roller is a metal axis enclosed in a rubber shell. They have different structures of the rubber layer. The main task of this component is to charge the photoconductor drum with a uniform negative charge. In some cartridges, the roller serves as a kind of wiper, cleaning the photoconductor drum from toner residue and paper dust. The primary charge roller gets contaminated with paper dust, so it requires regular cleaning.
