TV Vinga S65UHD20B
In October 2017, we had the opportunity to test the Vinga S65UHD20G TV. It's now harder to find on sale as it has been replaced by the Vinga S65UHD20B model. The difference in the name is just one letter, but in practice, the differences are more significant, although there are many similarities.
For example, both TVs feature 65-inch panels with 4K Ultra HD resolution and Direct LED backlighting, analog and digital tuners, a Wi-Fi module, Smart TV support, and a pair of 8-watt speakers. The most noticeable differences are changes in the hardware platform and the transition to a newer version of the Android 6.0 OS. We'll discuss the rest during the review.

Packaging and Delivery Set
The Vinga S65UHD20B TV comes in a simple cardboard box with cutouts on the sides for easy transportation. The box lacks colorful printing, but this does not prevent you from assessing the device's appearance and familiarizing yourself with its main advantages.
The delivery set includes paper documentation, an audio cable for the Audio-In Component interface, legs and screws for their attachment, a remote control, and a pair of AAA batteries for its power.
The remote control is made of matte plastic. It is quite long but fits comfortably in the hand. The buttons require medium force to press. Almost each one is labeled or has a clear icon. The user manual provides the purpose of each button. For correct operation, it is advisable to point the remote directly at the sensor on the TV.
Appearance
Vinga S65UHD20B
Vinga S65UHD20G
The difference in the appearance of the TVs is noticeable at first glance: Vinga S65UHD20G uses a more elegant silver frame around the screen, while Vinga S65UHD20B has a more restrained black one.

They also slightly differ in the shape of the legs. But in both cases, reliable fixation of the screen on the table is ensured. This is also thanks to the rubber pads on the tips of the legs, which also protect the table surface from scratches.

Vinga S65UHD20G
The back part of the new model is more refined, although it is unlikely to attract much attention. The size of the central part, which hides the power supply unit and all external interfaces, has been reduced. It also features ventilation holes and a VESA bracket mount.
The set of external interfaces has also changed: Vinga S65UHD20B has lost the analog D-Sub port, one USB, 3.5mm audio, and SCART. Instead, an Audio-In Component has appeared. Nothing critical, but if you decide to connect an old computer to the TV, you may also need an HDMI adapter. The interfaces themselves are labeled and directed downwards or sideways. They remain easily accessible even during wall mounting.
In the lower left corner of the back panel, there are three important elements:
- menu call button;
- power-saving mode button;
- 4-position joystick with an "OK" button in the center for menu navigation and selection of necessary items.
On the bottom side, you can notice two speakers with a power of 8W each. They are loud enough for a regular room. The frequency range has well-developed mids and lacks lows. Of course, if the TV is purchased for a home theater role, a better audio system should be selected.
Near the left speaker is an activity indicator. It glows blue when Vinga S65UHD20B is in standby mode, so you can easily recognize the TV in the dark. During viewing, the indicator does not distract attention. It is advisable to direct the remote control to this area.
Functional capabilities
Immediately after connecting the antenna and turning it on, you can watch TV programs thanks to the built-in digital tuner supporting the DVB-T2 standard relevant for our country. The picture quality will depend on the power of your antenna.
If desired, you can view multimedia files from an external USB drive or flash drive. MKV and MP4 files with VP9 codec in 4K Ultra HD resolution were launched without problems. However, SWF and MP4 with H.264 codec sometimes lagged, but in most cases played without delays.
For internet access, you can use a wireless Wi-Fi module or a wired connection. In the latter case, the download speed reached 48.9 Mbps, and the upload speed was 46.1 Mbps with a channel width of 50 Mbps.
After that, you can browse your favorite websites, search for necessary information, watch videos or movies, listen to music, and much more. In short, gain access to the wide possibilities of the internet.
You can also play Android games. However, you will have to limit yourself to simple and light projects, as heavier ones lag. The hardware platform is represented by a 2-core processor and 1.5 GB of RAM. If desired, you can connect a more powerful computer to the TV for PC gaming.
Recall that the Vinga S65UHD20G uses a 4-core processor and 1 GB of RAM.
The Vinga S65UHD20B operates on Android 6.0 OS with access to the Google Play app store. If desired, you can install the necessary applications to enhance the TV's functionality.
On-Screen Menu
To access the menu and adjust settings, you can use the controls behind the screen or the remote control. The functionality allows you to select the input signal source, set the image profile or audio subsystem mode, adjust the time, set the image format, and much more. The menu features high-quality Ukrainian and Russian language localization.
Testing
The hardware platform during the testing of the Vinga S65UHD20B TV was the ZOTAC ZBOX nano ID65 PLUS mini-computer. You can find a full description of the methodology for testing characteristics in the relevant material.
The device includes four color profiles: "Light," "User," "Standard," and "Soft." For convenience, we have compiled all their parameters in a single table:

The brightness and static contrast are not specified on the official website. The first ranges from 182 to 195 cd/m2. These are not very high indicators. Ideally, it should be between 250-300 cd/m2. However, for rooms with normal lighting, this is sufficient.
As for static contrast, as with the Vinga M55UHD20G, the test programs differed in their opinions. One shows 600:1 - 700:1, while the other shows 800:1 - 900:1. Again, I would like to see something closer to 1000:1, but even with these indicators, you will get a pleasant picture for the eyes.
However, the white point temperature is higher compared to the reference 6500 K.
Color Coverage

CIE diagrams of the "Custom" profile for sRGB and Adobe RGB spaces
CIE diagrams of the "Standard" profile for sRGB and Adobe RGB spaces
CIE diagrams of the "Soft" profile for sRGB and Adobe RGB spaces
For mass-market, non-professional displays, coverage levels of 90% for sRGB and 65% for Adobe RGB are considered acceptable. The Vinga S65UHD20B has peak values of 92.7% and 63.9%. The first slightly exceeds the sufficient minimum, while the second falls slightly short, but it can be said that everything is fine in this regard.
The nature of the CIE diagrams for the sRGB space is the same in all modes: a slight shift of two reference points creates a minimal deficiency in the blue and green color zones, as well as oversaturation in the yellow, orange, and red shades.
Color Accuracy

Diagram of deviation of primary colors and shades from the "Custom" profile standards
Diagram of deviation of primary colors and shades from the "Standard" profile standards
Diagram of deviation of primary colors and shades from the "Soft" profile standards
No profile can boast high color and shade accuracy. In all cases, the average and maximum deviation ΔE were much higher than the permissible 1.5 and 4, respectively.
RGB Levels
RGB levels graph of the "Light" profile
RGB levels graph of the "Custom" profile
RGB levels graph of the "Standard" profile
RGB levels graph of the "Soft" profile
The RGB levels settings are also not perfect: the green curve is in place, the red is slightly underestimated (80-90%), and the blue is overestimated (140-170%). As a result, the image acquires cool tones.
Gamma
Gamma curves graph of the "Light" profile
Gamma curves graph of the "Custom" profile
Gamma curves graph of the "Standard" profile
Gamma curves graph of the "Soft" profile
The gamma curves are best configured in the "Standard" and "Soft" profiles: they are as close as possible to the reference black line, so there will be no problems with loss of detail in dark or light areas. The "Light" mode performed the worst.
Brightness Range
Based on testing results, the most balanced profile in the Vinga S65UHD20B TV is the "User" profile, so further research was conducted based on it.
Brightness ranged from 56 to 267 cd/m2. The minimum value will be comfortable for viewing during dark times of the day, while the upper limit will provide a pleasant picture in bright sunny conditions.

Thanks to manual adjustments, it was possible to normalize the white point temperature, increase the coverage of sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces, and improve shade accuracy. On the other hand, contrast decreased.
Screen Backlight Uniformity
Usually, we lower the central brightness indicator to 100 cd/m2 and assess the deviations of adjacent areas. In this case, it did not exceed 9 cd/m2, which is an excellent indicator.
There are also no problems with the white point temperature: in none of the sections did it go beyond the permissible range of ±250 K, which can also be considered an excellent result for a 65-inch diagonal.
On a white background, backlight bleed is noticeable along the edges of the screen. No issues were found with the black background.
Matrix Speed and PWM
The matrix response speed is not advertised on the official page. During testing, slight trails from moving objects can be noticed, but nothing critical. If desired, the TV can be used not only for watching dynamic movies but also for gaming.
Brightness - 25%, exposure - 1/15
A solid front in the image indicates the absence of visible backlight flicker. This reduces eye strain and increases comfort during prolonged screen time.
Viewing Angles
Viewing angles are also not specified in the official specification, but in practice, they are indeed wide. Colors are not distorted, so even a small group can comfortably watch their favorite team's competition or a new blockbuster.
Conclusions
It's time to draw conclusions. The Vinga S65UHD20B TV features a huge 65-inch screen, Smart TV support, a digital tuner, and a pair of built-in 8-watt speakers. In this, it is similar to its predecessor Vinga S65UHD20G. However, there are a number of differences between them.
We do not take the difference in appearance into account, as it is a subjective parameter: some may prefer the elegant silver color of the predecessor, while others may prefer the classic black color of the new model. There is no difference in functional capabilities, but there is in the hardware platform. Vinga S65UHD20B has a 2-core processor with 1.5 GB of RAM, while Vinga S65UHD20G has a 4-core processor with 1 GB. Additionally, the new model runs on the newer Android 6.0 OS instead of Android 5.1.1.
In terms of factory calibration quality, each model has its own advantages and disadvantages: Vinga S65UHD20G boasts higher brightness and contrast, while Vinga S65UHD20B offers good color space coverage and gamma curve settings. We did not notice any critical drawbacks.
In conclusion, it cannot be said that the new model is better or worse than its predecessor. It should be considered as a more affordable alternative that provides the same functionality and good picture quality.
