Nowadays, many users can assemble a computer from individual components on their own. There is a vast amount of material online regarding every aspect of assembly: from choosing components for specific tasks to installing them in the case. On forums and IT portals, you can clarify questions about compatibility and the differences between similar models. Essentially, all you need is time and the desire to delve into a new topic for yourself.

However, many users prefer ready-made builds, and their choice is also understandable. You don't spend precious time reading and watching reviews about specific components and don't worry about potential compatibility issues between individual components. You don't need to assemble the components inside, and you know for sure that the computer will start after connecting to the network. The level of headache in case of service maintenance is significantly reduced since one company is responsible for your entire computer. Moreover, the warranty is given for the entire system unit, and it can exceed the warranty of individual components. Yes, in this case, you pay a little extra and don't gain valuable experience. On the other hand, your time and peace of mind in the future may be much more valuable than such an overpayment. Of course, the decision is yours, and we, on our part, want to introduce you to an interesting ready-made computer BRAIN TOP GAMER B50, which is suitable for gaming and work.

Supply and package contents

The BRAIN TOP GAMER B50 system unit is supplied fully assembled in a cardboard box from the case. On one of the side panels, the case specifications are indicated, and on the other, there is a special sticker with a list of installed components. In our case, the supply package was absent, but in the retail version, there must be at least a warranty obligation from BRAIN for service maintenance for 36 months.
Appearance, element placement

The BRAIN TOP GAMER B50 (B4690.JAX2016) computer is assembled in a strict and functional Vinga Black Widow case, which has already been in our test lab. Therefore, we will not focus on all its features but will only highlight the key points of the external design.

Behind the solid front doors with soundproofing hides a pre-installed ASUS DRW-24D5MT optical drive and a ventilation grille, behind which are two 120mm Deepcool XFAN 120 case fans. They are built on reliable hydrodynamic bearings and feature a constant rotation speed of 1300 RPM, creating an airflow volume of 43.56 CFM (74 m3/h) at a noise level of 23.7 dB(A). Subjectively, they operate very quietly, and their use is a correct step for maintaining a comfortable temperature inside the case.

At the junction of the top and front panels is a set of additional external ports, which includes a multimedia card reader (SD / microSD), two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, two audio ports, a power button, and activity indicators. All of them are connected and ready to work.

On the rear side, you can notice the motherboard interface panel, a pre-installed video card with its own set of video outputs, a power supply unit at the bottom of the structure, and three branded stickers, the damage of which will result in the loss of warranty.

At the top, there is a removable panel with soundproofing. If desired, it can be removed to improve the temperature regime inside, especially if additional fans are planned to be installed on the top panel in the future.

In the lower part of the structure, there is a removable dust filter under the power supply opening and feet with soft pads for reliable fixation of the case on the floor.
Internal Layout and Hardware Platform

The internal space can be conditionally divided into two parts: at the top is the motherboard with the installed processor, memory modules, video card, and connected optical drive. Below, under a special shroud, is the power supply unit and storage.

The basis of the BRAIN TOP GAMER B50 is the ASRock B150M-HDV motherboard, built on the Intel B150 chipset for 6th and 7th generation Intel Core processors (Socket LGA1151). It is equipped with two DIMM slots for installing up to 32 GB of DDR4-2133 memory, six SATA 6 Gb/s ports for connecting storage devices, a PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot for mounting a video card, and two PCI Express 3.0 x1 slots for installing additional expansion cards. The Realtek RTL8111E chip acts as the gigabit LAN controller, and the 7.1-channel audio subsystem is based on the Realtek ALC887 codec. Overall, this is a decent entry-level model for building a system without further overclocking experiments. Of course, for greater savings, one could take a model based on the Intel H110, but they usually have fewer SATA 6 Gb/s ports and lack heatsinks on the power subsystem elements.

The good computing power of the BRAIN TOP GAMER B50 is due to the integration of a 4-core Intel Core i5-6400 processor from the Intel Skylake series. Despite the presence of a successor in the form of the Intel Core i5-7400 (Intel Kaby Lake), it does not lose its relevance in building gaming or work systems. Its base frequency is 2.7 GHz, and the dynamic can rise to 3.3 GHz. A reference cooling system is used for cooling, whose capabilities will be more than sufficient since the CPU is not subject to overclocking.
